Hello from the Headteacher
A very warm welcome to Poulner Infant School and Nursery. I am delighted to welcome you to our school and hope our website gives you a little flavour of what makes Poulner such a happy and special place for children to begin their educational journey.
At Poulner, we believe that children thrive when they feel happy, safe, valued and included. We are proud to be a nurturing and welcoming school where every child is known as an individual, relationships really matter and children are encouraged to grow in confidence, independence and curiosity.
Everything we do is underpinned by our three school values:
Collaboration • Creativity • Challenge
We teach our children the importance of working together, listening to and learning from others and being a positive member of our school community. We encourage creativity, giving children opportunities to explore, imagine, question and express their ideas. We also believe in challenge – supporting every child to persevere, have a go and discover just how much they are capable of achieving.
We are incredibly fortunate to have wonderful school grounds which give our children plenty of space to learn, play and explore. Our extensive outdoor environment includes our Forest School area, large playing field and playground, providing opportunities for learning and adventure beyond the classroom. We recognise the importance of play, movement and time outdoors as part of children's development and wellbeing.
Our youngest children can begin their Poulner journey in Little Acorns, our own on-site Nursery. Being part of the school community from the very beginning helps children to develop confidence, friendships and a real sense of belonging as they prepare for their next steps.
We want learning at Poulner to be exciting, purposeful and memorable. Alongside providing a rich and engaging curriculum, we have high expectations for our children and are committed to helping every child make progress and achieve their very best. Just as importantly, we want them to leave us as confident, kind and curious young people who enjoy learning and believe in themselves.
Poulner is very much a community school. We value the relationships we build with our families and believe that working together gives our children the strongest possible start. We want parents and carers to feel welcomed, listened to and part of their child's journey with us.
There is so much that makes our school special, but a website can only show you a small part of it. We would love you to come and visit us, meet our wonderful children and staff, explore our school and grounds and experience the warm and nurturing atmosphere of Poulner for yourself.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Poulner family.
